Gov't agencies project even higher prices for diesel, soy oil


Data released by the Energy Information Administration shows the price of diesel is expected to rise over the next several months, while data published by the USDA's Economic Research Service notes high soybean oil prices are expected to continue.

Oil recycling bill pending in Rhode Island


Pending legislation in Rhode Island would require used cooking oil to be recycled. A hearing for the bill, titled "An Act Relating to Health and Safety - Used Cooking Oil Recycling Act," was held by a state Senate committee March 31.

Poet corn oil to supply up to 60 MMgy of biodiesel production


Planned expansion of corn oil production at all of Poet's ethanol plants will produce enough raw material for up to 60 million gallons of biodiesel. Poet says its Voila corn oil has fewer free fatty acids due to its cold cook BPX fermentation tech.

German oilseed council demands B30 approval in EN 590 diesel spec


The German oilseed council UFOP is demanding approval of 30 percent methyl ester biodiesel for commercial vehicles in the EN 590 diesel specification, an aggressive jump from the 7 percent allowance today. It notes German plants need the measure.

ADM to acquire Prairie Pride soy crush and biodiesel plants


Archer Daniels Midland Co. has agreed to acquire a soybean crushing facility and 30 MMgy biodiesel production plant from Prairie Pride in Deerfield, Mo. ADM will also form a partnership with PPI for the biodiesel portion of the business.

A biodiesel blending program in New Zealand has reached its first year milestone. The country's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority recently congratulated the Queenstown Lakes Biodiesel Consortium for its first year of operation.
