NY Bioheat tax credit extended for five years


New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation into law extending the state's Refundable Clean Heating Fuel Tax Credit for five years. The personal tax credit gives consumers back a cent per percentage point blended for each gallon, up to B20.

EBB releases new European production, capacity statistics


The European Biodiesel Board has released a new set of statistics that show that the region's domestic biodiesel production decreased during the first two quarters in 2011. Comparatively, the EU experienced moderate production growth in 2010.

Australian algae facility passes environmental permitting process


The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act will give Algae.Tec the go-ahead to build a demonstration facility called Shoalhaven One near the Manildra Group's ethanol facility south of Sydney. The permit is effective immediately.

UK biodiesel producer to supply B30 to client


U.K. biodiesel producer Argent Energy has announced that leaflet marketing specialist EAE Ltd. is using its B30 blend of fuel to help reduce carbon emissions. EAE aims to become carbon neutral by 2015. Argent makes about 13.5 MMgy of biodiesel.

Dow partners with Solazyme to develop biobased fluids


Through a developmental agreement, Dow Electrical & Telecommunications, formerly Dow Wire & Cable, will work with Solazyme Inc. to develop algal oils for use in biobased Dielectric Insulating Fluids. The market for DIF is estimated at $2 billion.

SarTec gets DOE grant to support pennycress, camelina cultivation


Anoka-Minn.-based SarTec Corp. has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the U.S. DOE as part of a project to enhance the use of inedible energy crops for production of advanced biofuels using the one-step Mcgyan biodiesel process at Ever Cat Fuels.

Greenleaf Biofuels secures funding for new plant


Connecticut-based Greenleaf Biofuels LLC has closed on full project funding with Sovereign Bank for its 10 MMgy biodiesel plant in New Haven, Conn., using a Greenline system and working with Jatrodiesel and Innovative Design Engineering Associates.
