Clean Green Fuel LLC owner Rodney Hailey, on trial the past week in federal court for wire fraud, money laundering and violating the Clean Air Act by generating $9 million worth of fraudulent biodiesel RINs, was found guilty on all charges June 25.

What the Senate Farm Bill means to the US biodiesel industry


The U.S. biodiesel industry is pleased with the Senate's version of the Farm Bill passed this week in a 64 to 35 vote. It has authorized funding for the Biomass Crop Assistance Program and Biodiesel Fuel Education Program, among others.

3 biodiesel projects land Rural Energy for America Program funds


USDA announced funding for 450 projects under the Rural Energy for America Program totaling $7.4 million, and at least three of these are biodiesel-related. Biodiesel grant recipients include Aegis Systems, SJ Bates Ltd. and Pleasant Valley Biofuels.

May US biodiesel output strong at 115 million gallons


The U.S. EPA said June 21 that 114.9 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in May, reporting year-to-date production of nearly 445.9 million gallons through the end of May. About 6 million gallons of renewable diesel was also produced in May.

Navy partners with Coast Guard for initial renewable diesel test


The Navy provided U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Henry Blake (WLM 563) with a 50/50 blend of F-76 and hydroprocessed renewable diesel (HRD-76) on June 20 with the intent of examining the feasibility of using renewable diesel fuel in Coast Guard cutters.

Azul conducts demonstration flight with Amyris biojet fuel


The Embraer E195 jet operated by Azul and running on Amyris' biojet departed from Campinas Viracopos Airport, flew over Rio de Janeiro where the U.N. Conference for Sustainable Development is this week, and landed at Rio's Santos Dumont Airport.
