Petrobras, Fisheries Ministry partner to study fish oil biodiesel


Petrobras Biofuel and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture signed a memorandum of understanding at the Harvest Plan for Fisheries event to expand cooperative programs focused on the exploration and production of biodiesel from residual fish oil.

SG Biofuels expands global jatropha hybrid trial network


SG Biofuels has expanded its global network of hybrid trial and agronomic research sites to 15 with the addition of eight new JMax Knowledge Centers in Guatemala, Brazil and India. It claims to have validated $99 a barrel jatropha oil production.

Neste Oil officially opens microbial-oil-from-residue pilot plant


Neste Oil is celebrating the official opening of Europe's first pilot plant for producing microbial oil from waste and residues Oct. 26 at its site in Porvoo, Finland. Microbial oil is expected to enter commercial production at the earliest in 2015.

REG begins $20 million upgrade to Minn.-based biodiesel plant
