US diesel car registrations up nearly 25 percent in past 3 years

The 2013 Award recipient is B.L.A. Prabhavathi Devi from the Centre for Lipid Research at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. The researchers developed glycerol-based catalysts to replace traditional chemicals.

German rapper Smudo's bioconcept car to perform in 24-hour race


Smudo presented the race car, equipped with innovative rapeseed-based biofuel and constructed from biocomposites and biopolymers, together with his team colleagues and UFOP on April 23 exclusively in Berlin. He will compete in the ADAC 24-hour race.

Biodiesel producer Community Fuels gets BQ-9000 lab certification


California-based Community Fuels, which operates a 13 MMgy biodiesel refinery in the Port of Stockton, recently earned BQ-9000 Laboratory certification, making it the first biodiesel producer in the nation to receive this third-party approval.

CME Group launching biodiesel RINs futures contracts May 13


The new RINs contracts will be available for trading starting May 13, and will allow customers to hedge risk in biodiesel (D4), advanced biofuel (D5) and ethanol (D6). The contracts will be financially settled based on Argus Media's prices for RINs.

Methanex to relocate 2nd methanol plant from Chile to Louisiana


Gov. Bobby Jindal and Methanex VP Gary Rowan announced Methanex Corp. will relocate a second methanol plant from Chile to a 225-acre site in Geismar, La. In July 2012, Methanex announced it was moving a separate plant from Chile to Ascension Parish.
