Bio Plant Technologies, operating as ClearEcos, and GHP Biodiesel USA are joining forces to establish a new 11.5 MMgy biodiesel plant in Boulder, Colo. ClearEcos is a Colorado UCO collector. GHP Biodiesel USA is a process tech firm with German roots.

Biodiesel producers receive USDA advanced biofuel payments


Acting Under Secretary for Rural Development at USDA Doug O'Brien announced on May 16 payments to advanced biofuel producers in 38 states. A majority of the recipients are biodiesel producers. The funding comes in at nearly $14 million.

Canadian government funds algae project in the Alberta oil sands


The three-year Algal Carbon Conversion Pilot Project, a partnership between NRC, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and Pond Biofuels, will use algae to recycle industrial CO2 emissions from an oil sands facility into commercial products like biofuels.

UK firm launches 'Algem' algae photobioreactor technology


Algenuity launched its Algem photobioreactor in Europe and Middle East markets May 15. It enables researchers to run simultaneous, comparative algal growth studies in two 1-liter flasks, and has three light wavelengths from red, white and blue LEDs.
