Friends of the Earth and Searchinger still wrong about biofuels


Today the GRFA slammed a new study by Friends of the Earth for its glaring omissions and use of a controversial theory on land use impacts of biofuels. The report relies on unproven ILUC and is silent on underlying causes of global hunger.

UFOP samples 60 stations, finds biodiesel feedstock diversity up


With 53 percent raw material content, rapeseed oil remains the most important raw material source for the production of biodiesel in Germany, followed by palm oil with 25 percent, and coconut and soy oil at 11 percent each. UFOP sampled 60 stations.

Methes Energies Canada Inc. has finalized a CDN$1.6 million debt financing facility through a local Ontario, Canada, lender. The new loan carries an annual interest rate of 12 percent compared to the 23 percent interest rate on its June 2012 Loan.

REG completes $21 million upgrade at Minn. biodiesel plant


Renewable Energy Group Inc. recently completed $21 million in technology upgrades at its 30 MMgy biodiesel refinery in southern Minnesota. Within days of start-up, all biodiesel produced met the company's REG-9000 quality specifications.
