US biodiesel production on pace for record year


Biodiesel refiners across the country have produced more than 636 million gallons through the end of June, the EPA reported July 25. That puts the industry on pace to break the previous production record and exceed this year's RFS volume requirement.

Biodiesel temporarily offline for repairs at Buckeye Hartford


The biodiesel delivery system will be shut down until the part is replaced and the meter is tested and proved. Gulf Hydrocarbon has stopped taking biodiesel into and deliveries out of the terminal until corrected, which could be as early as July 31.

Malaysia is launching a B5 biodiesel mandate for its southern region, according to the Malaysian Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, following the success of its program in central Malaysia. The government is investigating use of B10.

REG releases Q2 financials; closes strongest quarter ever


REG sold 69.2 million gallons of biodiesel in the second quarter, an increase of 28 percent compared to the second quarter of 2012. Revenues of $387.1 million increased 42 percent year over year. The company achieved adjusted EBITDA of $41.6 million.

Neste Oil adds corn oil to feedstock mix for renewable diesel


Neste Oil is now using distillers corn oil, a nonfood byproduct generated from ethanol production, as a new feedstock for its NExBTL renewable diesel. After good results from springtime trials, it's using DCO commercially with supplies from the U.S.

REG announces New York Harbor terminal position agreement


REG announced it will offer biodiesel at the International-Matex Tank Terminals in Bayonne, N.J. in New York Harbor, one of the world's largest petroleum trading hubs. This new location allows REG to sell large volumes of biodiesel by barge or truck.

Nat'l Biodiesel Board adds Fenwick as new technical director


As NBB's new technical director, Scott Fenwick takes on the day-to-day management responsibilities of running the technical program. He will work out of the Jefferson City, Mo., NBB office. Steve Howell is being elevated to senior technical advisor.

Alaska Airlines and Hawaii BioEnergy signed an agreement for the purchase of sustainable biofuel for its aircraft. Founded in 2006, Hawaii BioEnergy is a consortium of three of Hawaii's largest landowners and three venture capital companies.
