Germany retail biodiesel sales plummet

As a result of changing tax policies, German quality assurance firm Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel e.V. is discontinuing its quality assurance program for public filling stations. In August 2006, Germany began phasing out a biodiesel tax incentive; combined with the past year's high petroleum prices, consumer demand for biodiesel at the pump has weakened.READ MORE

Biodiesel purification specialist Schroeder Biofuels is launching a trial program of its Eco2Pure system in March. OriginOil signs agreement with U.S. DOE

President signs stimulus package

U.S. President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 on Feb. 17. The legislation, which has an estimated price tag of $787 billion, includes approximately $65 billion for renewable energy projects and tax incentives.READ MORE
