New EU standard to boost greater use of renewable diesel


The European Committee for Standardization recently approved a new standard for paraffinic diesel fuel made from synthesis or hydrotreatment. EN 15940 will make it easier for vehicle manufacturers to authorize up to 100 percent renewable diesel use.

EPA's proposed 2018 biodiesel RFS rule calls for modest growth


The National Biodiesel Board called for the Obama administration to strengthen a U.S. EPA proposal released May 18 that would raise the biodiesel volume requirement under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) by only 100 million gallons in 2018.

Iowa biodiesel production tax credit extended through 2024


In Iowa, at Renewable Energy Group Inc.'s Newton biodiesel plant, Gov. Terry Branstad signed legislation into law May 24 extending and expanding state biodiesel incentives. SF 2309 extends a 2 cpg biodiesel production tax credit through 2024.

EU appeals WTO panel report in dispute over Argentine biodiesel


The EU filed a notice of appeal May 20 with the World Trade Organization in the dispute with Argentina over antidumping measures on biodiesel. Two months ago the WTO issued a panel report stating the EU's sanctioning method violated WTO law.

CEC awards Biodico $1.2M grant for Zero Net Energy Farms project
