Biodiesel production, consumption expected to continue increasing


Two prolific biofuel market analysts and ag economists from the University of Illinois, Darrel Good and Scott Irwin, say the U.S.'s annual production and consumption of biomass-based diesel is likely to continue to increase through 2022.

Post-2020 EU biofuel reduction bad for environment, farmers, jobs


The European Commission issued its proposal for the post-2020 RED. The EU plans to reduce first-gen biofuels from 7 to 3.8 percent. Biodiesel interests say this is a victory for fossil fuels at the expense of farmers, jobs and the environment.

EIA forecast: US biodiesel production, imports trending up


EIA has released a December edition of its Short-Term Energy Outlook. EIA says U.S. biodiesel production in 2015 was 1.26 billion gallons with net imports at 475 MMgy. In 2017, production is forecast at 1.6 billion with net imports of 782 MMgy.

3 sentenced in final chapter of Imperial Petro, e-Biofuels fraud


Jeffrey Wilson and Craig and Chad Ducey were sentenced to years in prison for their roles in the multimillion dollar fraud schemes involving biodiesel tax and RIN credits, and shares of Imperial Petroleum. Four others were previously sentenced.
