German biofuel maker to buy Atlantic Biodiesel plant in Ontario


A Canadian subsidiary of Germany-based Verbio Vereinigte BioEnergie AG signed a contract May 2 to purchase Atlantic Biodiesel Corp.’s biodiesel production facility in Welland, Ontario, Canada. The plant is the former Great Lakes Biodiesel facility.

2 biodiesel antioxidants added to AGQM’s no-harm list


Germany’s biodiesel quality management association has successfully completed its 13th round of no-harm tests on oxidation stabilizers for biodiesel used in diesel fuel or heating oil. Antioxidants by Dorf Ketal and Rodanco have made the list.

EPA delivers proposed 2020-’21 RVOs, ‘other RFS changes’ to OMB

Velocys announces close-out of cellulosic diesel joint venture


Velocys announced April 29 the successful close-out of its Envia joint venture. The project was used to demonstrate the company’s Fischer-Tropsch gas-to-liquids technology. Operations at the plant were suspended in September 2018.

Iowa biodiesel industry calls ‘mayday’ at Capitol Hill rally


Iowa Congressional leaders and members of the Iowa Biodiesel Board took part in a Capitol Hill rally May 1 in support of getting the biodiesel and renewable diesel tax credit renewed. The National Biodiesel Board hosted the event on the Senate Swamp.

REG: Gallons sold up in Q1, buyer for Life Sciences identified


Renewable Energy Group released Q1 2019 results May 2, reporting a significant increase in biofuel gallons produced. REG also reported it has identified a buyer for its Life Sciences division and is working to expand renewable diesel capacity.
