US EPA proposes stalling 2021 biodiesel RVO at 2020 level


EPA proposes to set the 2020 RVO at 20.04 billion gallons, including 2.43 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel set last year. The agency proposes to keep the 2021 RVO for biomass-based diesel at 2020 levels, effectively stalling industry growth.

Commerce dept. gives Argentina break at expense of US producers


The National Biodiesel Board’s Fair Trade Coalition criticized the U.S. Department of Commerce’s preliminary decision in a review of countervailing duties on biodiesel imports from Argentina. If finalized, duties will be lowered significantly.

5 MMgy Missouri biodiesel plant set for auction July 23


Maas Companies will auction Global Fuels’ 5 MMgy biodiesel plant located in Dexter, Missouri, July 23. The Global Fuels facility was built in 2007 and has since undergone a technology upgrade allowing use of feedstock with FFA content to 15 percent.

Victory Renewables opens biodiesel blending facility in Kansas


An open house was held June 25 in Garden City, Kansas, to celebrate Victory Renewables’ new biodiesel blending facility. The site stores both diesel and biodiesel fuels, allowing suppliers to load biodiesel in concentrations of 5 to 100 percent.

Senators aim to limit USDA influence over SRE decisions


Several U.S. senators representing oil producing and refining states are trying to limit Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s influence over the U.S. EPA’s process of evaluating small refinery exemptions (SREs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard.

EIA to update data reporting for biofuels


The U.S. Energy Information Administration is seeking a three-year extension with changes to its Petroleum Supply Reporting System. The proposed changes include those related to biofuels reporting. Comments are due July 24.

REG Newton announces Monarch Fueling Station Project


Renewable Energy Group announced June 27 it is establishing a Monarch Fueling Station at its plant near Newton, Iowa. The monarch habitat will span roughly one-and-a-half acres. IRFA and IMCC established the conservation effort in December 2017.
