EPA responds to GAO report on RIN prices, small refineries The U.S. EPA on Dec. 20 released a final analysis on the price of RINs and small refineries in response to a U.S. GAO report. 	EPA: 1.94 billion RINs generated in November The U.S. EPA on Dec. 15 released data showing more than 1.94 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in November, up from 1.78 billion generated during the same month of last year. READ MORE SHARE
Virgin Atlantic to fuel transatlantic flight with 100% SAF The U.K. Department of Transport on Dec. 16 announced that Virgin Atlantic will operate a historic net-zero flight from London to New York next year using 100 percent SAF. Portland to phase in renewable requirements for diesel sales The Portland City Council on Dec. 8 adopted a new policy that aims to reduce carbon emissions from diesel-fueled transportation by phasing in requirements for the use of renewable fuels, such as biodiesel and renewable diesel. EPA: 1 new SRE petition filed, 10 SRE petitions now pending The U.S. EPA released updated small refinery exemption (SRE) data on Dec. 15, reporting that one new SRE petition was filed under the Renewable Fuel Standard in the past month. A total of 10 SRE petitions are now pending. READ MORE SHARE
	RBF supplies biodiesel to marine vessel pushing feedstock barges RBF Renewable Biofuels is supplying diesel-powered push boats with biodiesel produced at its Port Neches, Texas, plant. The MV Captain Raphael, owned by Central Boat Rentals Inc., was loaded with 20 percent biodiesel (B20) fuel on Nov. 22. READ MORE SHARE
EPA opens registration for Jan. 10 hearing on RFS ‘set’ rule The U.S. EPA is now accepting registrations for a virtual public hearing to be held Jan. 10 on its proposed RFS “set” rule, which includes RVOs for 2023, 2024 and 2025 and outlines the agency’s plans for the generation of e-RINs. USDA reduces 2022-’23 forecast for soybean oil use in biofuel The USDA reduced its forecast for 2022-’23 soybean oil use in biofuel production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Dec. 9. Alfa Laval supports CVR refinery in its transition to biofuels Alfa Laval has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of CVR Energy Inc. to supply processing systems for feedstock pre-treatment, part of a strategic investment in the refinery supporting CVR's expansion into renewable biofuel production. USDA: US biodiesel exports at 65,979 metric tons in October The U.S. exported 65,978.7 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in October, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Dec. 6.
