Neste Oil is supporting the environmental goals of this year's Flow Festival in Helsinki by supplying 100 percent NEXBTL renewable diesel to generate electricity for the event. Held Aug. 8-10, the festival is known for prioritizing the environment.
Aemetis Inc. announced that it has received EPA approval for the issuance of D4 RINs upon the importation into the U.S. of biodiesel produced from waste fats and oils. The fuel also recently earned the EU's ISCC Category 2 certification.

The dispute (DS473) between Argentina and the EU over the latter's imposition of antidumping duties on biodiesel imports from the South American economy has advanced to the panel stage at the global trade arbiter, after a second request last week.
The project, to be located in Portugal, integrates heterotrophic and phototrophic production technologies, using glycerin from biodiesel production as a carbon source to the heterotrophic unit and validating biomass output for biodiesel conversion.

Global diesel engine sales are forecast to rise 7.7 percent per year through 2017 to $248.5 billion, representing a marked acceleration from the 2007-'12 pace, according to "World Diesel Engines," a report published this month by The Freedonia Group.

Several methods to cleanse and polish biodiesel are utilized, but the story on how well these work begins upstream. Therefore, the cost-effectiveness of biodiesel purification methods should be evaluated based on composition of upstream product.
UFOP sampled 60 fuel stations this winter and found, at 89 percent, rapeseed oil is the predominant raw material of the biodiesel component in diesel fuel in Germany, followed by palm kernel oil at 6 percent and palm and soya oil at 4 and 1 percent.
As part of a pilot program in the Netherlands, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has reached an agreement with SkyNRG for delivery of 66,000 gallons of biodiesel sourced from used cooking oil, to be blended at B30 for use in Boskalis trucks.

The global biofuels industry is now on the verge of entering a new phase of development. According to a new report, global demand for biofuels for road transportation will grow from 32.4 billion gallons in 2013 to 51.1 billion by 2022.
A biodiesel plant remodeled by BDI-BioEnergy International AG in Volos, Greece, owned by Elin Biofuels S.A., was officially opened at a recent ceremony. The plant, equipped with distillation, can now process used cooking oil and animal fats.
