Poet LLC's Chief Executive Officer Jeff Broin joined other top energy leaders Nov. 11-12 at the Forbes Energy Conference in New York City to discuss how new technology and increased demand will shape the energy environment of the future.
Broin, who was recently featured in a
Forbes Magazine profile as "Mr. Ethanol," participated in a panel discussion titled "Worlds in Collision: Green, Political & Business Imperatives," on Nov. 12. The panel explored whether policy makers and business executives can forge productive alliances, as the capacity to reach reasonable compromise has been stressed to the limit at the intersection of business and policy in the new fiscal environment.
Also participating in the panel discussion were Spencer Abraham, former U.S. Secretary of Energy and current chief executive officer of The Abraham Group, and Peter Davoren, CEO of Turner Construction Co.
Other notable speakers included James Edward, former U.S. Secretary of Energy, and former South Carolina governor, as well as John Herrington, former U.S. Secretary of Energy.
Poet currently operates 26 ethanol production facilities in the United States, with five more under construction or expansion.
