March 1, 2006

According to a recent U.S. Department of Justice press release, Pekin, Ill.-based MGP Ingredients of Illinois Inc. (MGPI) is required to reduce its emissions and pay civil fines totaling $171,800—with the state and federal governments each getting half. MGPI will install pollution control equipment to reduce more than 1,700 tons of air pollutants per year like VOCs and carbon monoxide, after violating the Clean Air Act and failing to install the necessary emission-reducing equipment.
