Ethanol production: Movin' on up

December 13, 2006

The expansion of the U.S. ethanol industry continued its aggressive march forward in October. Midway through the month, Pacific Ethanol flipped the switch on California's largest ethanol biorefinery. The facility in Madera, Calif., will produce 35 MMgy of ethanol for the California market.

Additionally, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) participated in groundbreaking events most recently for Missouri Valley Renewable Energy in Meckling, S.D.; Summit Ethanol, part of the Broin Companies, in Leipsic, Ohio; Cardinal Ethanol in Harrisville, Ind.; and Patriot Renewable Fuels in Annawan, Ill. The growing importance of the ethanol industry was demonstrated at each of these events as prominent public officials, including Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, reaffirmed their commitment to developing our domestic renewable fuels industry.
