For the first time, the
Renewable Fuels Association passed out a membership award at its National Ethanol Conference held in Florida. The recipients were Ron and Diane Fagen of
Fagen Inc.
Giving the award to the Fagens was an obvious choice, said Bob Dinneen, CEO and president of RFA. "To say Ron Fagen built America's ethanol industry would be an understatement," he said.
Founder Ron Fagen, president and CEO of the family-owned business, has been involved in industrial construction since 1974, according to the company Web site. Besides building many ethanol plants, Fagen also has experience with other green energy projects, such as wind and power generation.
Christopher Standlee, chairman of RFA, introduced the inaugural award during the opening session of the conference on Feb. 16. The Fagens have been committed leaders that have helped build the industry, he said.
