Judge Finally Approves ADM Purchase of MCP

A federal judge gave final approval to the 2002 sale of Minnesota Corn Processors (MCP) in Marshall, Minn., to Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM), the world's largest processor of corn, the Associated Press reported this month. ADM bought MCP and its spin-off businesses for $756 million. The sale was slowed when a group of antitrust experts expressed concern over alleged price-fixing in the markets of corn syrups and ethanol. ADM has been operating MCP since the deal was completed last September, the AP said.
