Methanol distillery on line in Texas

November 1, 2007

Houston-based GreenHunter BioFuels Inc., a subsidiary of GreenHunter Energy Inc., acquired a 1,500-barrel-per-day methanol distillation system from Channel Refining Corp. earlier this year, refurbished it within six months and restarted operation in September, the company announced. Designed to distill off-spec methanol to 99.85 percent purity or better, the unit is part of GreenHunter's 105 MMgy biodiesel facility slated for completion in early 2008. The plant expects to use only 20 percent of the methanol system's available capacity; third-party methanol will also be distilled.
