October 2, 2006

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm recently signed seven biofuels-related bills into law in an effort to encourage the production, use and sale of ethanol and biodiesel in Michigan. According to the state Department of Agriculture, the new legislation includes tax incentives for consumers and expansion grants for service station owners. It also calls for an alternative fuels commission, to be appointed by Granholm "in the very near future," according to Bridget Beckman of the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
