Mission Biofuels signs jatropha contracts

February 11, 2008

Mission Biofuels India, a subsidiary of biodiesel developer Mission Biofuels Ltd., announced in January that it signed an agreement with an Indian district-controlled entity for long-term and exclusive access to jatropha seeds from already-planted land and land that will be planted over the next three years. Mission Biofuels currently operates a 100,000-metric-tons-per-year (approximately 30 MMgy) biodiesel facility in Malaysia and is building an adjacent 250,000-metric-tons-per-year (approximately 75 MMgy) plant. Both plants will initially use crude palm oil as a feedstock, which will ultimately change to jatropha oil.
