NCEP releases energy report

February 1, 2005

The National Commission on Energy Policy released its report "Ending the Energy Stalemate: A Bipartisan Strategy to Meet America's Energy Challenges" in December. The 148-page report recommends establishing a 10-year $1.5 billion program to increase domestic production of non-petroleum renewable transportation fuels. The funding would be directed toward improving process efficiencies for converting plant material and wastes to ethanol and biodiesel, and improving energy crop productivity. The full report is available at www.energycommission.org.
