Nebraska's KAAPA Ethanol reaches full capacity

December 9, 2003

KAAPA Ethanol LLC in Minden, Neb., has started ethanol production at its 40-mmgy facility. According to KAAPA General Manager Chuck Woodside, the plant began grinding corn on Nov. 18 and it is already producing above capacity.

ICM Inc. and Fagen Inc. were the design/build team on the $55-million project, which broke ground in the fall of 2002.

"When we first started this project, we weren't planning on starting until March," Woodside told EPM. "We had great construction weather and so we were able to open earlier than expected."

Woodside said an open house at the plant will be held late this winter or early this spring.
