Known for bringing the first alternative fueling station to California in 2003,
Pearson Fuels cut ribbons to designate the opening of three new E85 stations within the state on Oct. 7-8, and announced plans to begin the construction of five additional fueling facilities.
Opening ceremonies were held at the new stations - located in Carlsbad, Concord and Hayward, Calif. The company indicated groundbreaking would occur at the Beaumont, Perris, San Jose, Carmichael and Sacramento, Calif., locations by Oct. 16. Pearson also has four additional California projects awaiting permits or under construction in Pomona, Rocklin, Salton City and Oceanside.
The ribbon-cutting events were staged in conjunction with National Alternative Fuel Day Odyssey, which kicked off in Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 3. The biennial event endorses alternative fuel vehicles and promotes the use of alternative fuel vehicles in partnership with the Clean Cities Program.

In May 2007, Pearson Fuels received a major grant from the California Air Resources Board. The financial support coincided with the U.S. DOE's Clean Cities program, a 1993-established government-industry partnership designed to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector by advancing the use of alternative fuels and vehicles, idol reduction technologies, hybrid electric vehicles, fuel blends, and fuel economy measures.
Pearson Fuels has a model for installing E85 systems which involves contracting an existing gas station owner to install a dispenser at his site. After an agreement is made between Pearson Fuels and the station owner, Pearson Fuels acquires all appropriate permits and equipment. The station owner is charged little to nothing for the installation of the dispenser or tanks, but in exchange, the station owner signs a fuel supply contract with Pearson Fuels for the delivery of E85 fuel. Pearson Fuels is currently the only company financially supported by the California Air Resources Board to supply E85 to the public.
Pearson Fuels also has common ownership with San Diego's Pearson Ford Car Dealership, and offers consumers 10 different vehicle fuels at its San Diego station including E85, B20, natural gas, and three blends of gasoline.
