Petrobras on June 19 announced its board of directors has approved a $1.2 billion project to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel at its existing Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC), located in Cubatão, São Paulo, Brazil.
BHP and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation have blended biofuels from two distinct feedstocks—UCO and waste animal fats —and introduced the lower-emissions marine fuel into a BHP-chartered bulk carrier as part of a pilot project.
NYK has commenced a one-year long-term trial involving the continuous use of 100% biofuel (B100) on an NYK-operated car carrier. The initiative is designed to evaluate the fuel’s effects on the vessel’s equipment and verify operational safety.
Carbon Direct on June 16 released the Criteria for High-Quality Low Carbon Fuels — a globally applicable, consolidated criteria for high-quality low carbon fuels (LCF) procurement on the voluntary market.
The U.S. EPA on June 18 released data showing nearly 2.02 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in May, up nearly 4% when compared to the same month of last year. Total RIN generation for the first five months of 2026 reached 9.66 billion.
