The European Parliament on July 8 voted to reject a proposed EU regulation that would have phased out the use of soybean oil as a biofuel feedstock by 2030. Representatives of the EU’s biobased diesel industry applauded the decision.
The U.S. exported 19,448 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in May, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on July 7. Biodiesel imports were at 5,886.4 metric tons for the month.
Total U.S. operable biofuel capacity expanded slightly in April, with gains for renewable diesel and associated fuels. Ethanol capacity was down slightly, while biodiesel capacity remained unchanged, according to data released by the U.S. EIA.
