Universal Bioenergy Inc., a public company trading on the pink sheets, announced Nov. 10 it's in negotiations for two process technologies that the company states could lower the cost of biodiesel production.

According to Universal Bioenergy, its subsidiary, Universal Bioenergy North America Inc., owns a biodiesel plant in Mississippi with a 10 MMgy capacity. The first technology will allow the use of lower-cost feedstocks with high free fatty acid content and will produce additional products like furnace oil and lubricant base oil. Universal Bioenergy said these products can receive 20 percent to 25 percent higher revenue than biodiesel – and the process doesn't produce glycerin.

The company's news release made no mention of the Ultra Vibration Fusion Process, but Universal Bioenergy states on its Web site that the company will begin producing biodiesel with UVFP in 2009.

The second process technology for which the company said it's negotiating for will allow the reaction temperature to be lowered by up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit using a "chemically modified" process to save energy and operating costs.

At press time, Universal Bioenergy President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Craven was not available to comment on the negotiations.
