USDA publishes corn yearbook

July 1, 2006

The USDA's economic research service has published its feed yearbook, which reports and analyzes the nation's feed grains and the ways in which they are utilized. Of particular interest to U.S. ethanol producers is the data regarding corn production, utilization and ending stocks. The yearbook reports that in 2005-'06, corn production equaled 11.1 billion bushels, a figure down from the previous year's record of 11.8. Yields declined from the past year as well, but increased planted and harvested area helped maintain high levels of production.
