Volkswaken building Chattanooga diesel plant

Volkswagen Group of America has started installing the equipment in its new plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., that will be manufacturing diesel Jettas and Passats among other models. Supplier Southern Fabrication Contractors, also of Chattanooga, delivered support steel on behalf of general contractor Eisenmann of Germany, for later installation of dip tanks. "Today marks an important milestone for building the new plant. We start to install the first equipment and we begin at the paint shop, one of the most important buildings of the new plant," said Lothar Grensemann, future manager of the paint shop. "We are on the spot with our schedule."
