Wisconsin's Ace Technologies breaks ground on two projects

November 1, 2003

Ace Technologies LLC celebrated two groundbreaking ceremonies to close out October.

On Oct. 27, Ace Ethanol near Stanley, Wis., broke ground on a $20-million expansion project. Sen. Dave Zien, R-Wis., and Rep. Scott Suder, R-Wis., spoke to a crowd of approximately 100 to 150 people on a wintery afternoon. Representatives of Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., and Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., read letters expressing the senators' support of the expansion while Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle also had a representative attend.

Funding for the project was provided by a loan from Wisconsin Business Bank and the USDA Rural Development. Ace Ethanol General Manager Terry Kulesa told EPM that the financing for the expansion of the 15-mmgy ethanol plant is in place. Once a building permit is issued, construction will begin.

On Oct. 24, Ace Biorefining LLC broke ground across the road from Ace Ethanol. Mayor David Jankoski led the event, which was visited by about 100 to 150 people including several state and local officials. Rep. Suder and Biorefining representatives Wesley Haine and Doug Van Thorre also attended.

Ace Biorefining could be the world's first biorefinery, using its patented Biorefining Process. The company hopes to convert distillers grains into specialty sugars in a low-cost way by further fractionating the corn fiber.
