Xethanol and Virginia Tech join forces to research cellulosic ethanol

Xethanol Corp. and Virginia Tech have announced the establishment of the Xethanol Advanced Biomass Characterization Laboratory at the university's campus in Blacksburg, Va. Xethanol also renewed a research agreement with Virgina Tech that is working towards a more efficient way to make cellulosic ethanol. The company also announced a loan of more than $200,000 in specialized laboratory equipment to the university for use in the research.

Established in 2005, the partnership is one of several that Xethanol is currently involved with. Xethanol currently has research agreements with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colo., Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) in Grand Forks, N.D., and the Forest Products Labe of the USDA in Madison, Wisc.
