Maas Companies of Rochester, Minnesota, will auction Chesapeake Green Fuels’ 10 MMgy biodiesel plant in Clayton, Delaware. The surplus assets will be sold via a sealed bid auction. The deadline for offers is Nov. 13 at 4:00 p.m. Central time.
The Chesapeake Green Fuels facility was originally built in 2006-’07 by Mid-Atlantic Biodiesel with a capacity of 5 MMgy. The plant capacity was doubled in 2009 by Chesapeake Green Fuels with the addition of multifeedstock pretreatment systems including bleaching filtration and glycerolysis, along with biodiesel distillation.
Chesapeake Green Fuels’ plant assets are now surplus to its other ongoing businesses. Located in the Mid-Atlantic region, the plant is strategically located near eastern markets, terminals and key distribution routes. The equipment will be selling as one package to remain on location or to be moved. The land is available via a long-term lease with Norfolk Southern Co. that can be assumed or negotiated, and has a rail spur that services the site with high-capacity loading and unloading.
“This auction offers a great opportunity for a new owner in the renewable or like industry or a local buyer with a regional business interest,” said Tyler Maas, director of sales and marketing for Maas Companies. “Dover is 15 miles to the south, Annapolis 60 miles to the northeast and Washington, D.C., is only 100 miles away. The six-acre property has 335,400 gallons of tank storage on rail siding, plus a 6,944 square-foot production building, a 3,000 square-foot shop building along with a modular office. The property currently has an income-producing tenant in place.”
Bidders interested in the plant should contact the auction company to receive access to all the due diligence documents prior to submitting a sealed bid.
