Extreme Biodiesel announced that its proprietary, biodegradable, glycerin-based form and asphalt release product is concluding its initial real-world testing with positive results.
The company states that, due to a ban on similar petroleum-based products by U.S. EPA, a virtually unlimited market for its glycerin-based form and asphalt release product has opened.
Eco Slide was developed at Extreme Biodiesel based in Corona, Calif., by its staff, with the primary active component being glycerin, a coproduct of the biodiesel production process. When sprayed on forms or trucks before being loaded with asphalt or concrete, Eco Slide “creates a slippery, Teflon-type effect on the construction material coming out of a truck or setting up in a ground form,” the company states.
The company says its primary buyer of Eco Slide product has purchased upwards of 80,000 gallons over the past two years, during which time Extreme Biodiesel staff have worked to improve the quality, yielding a stronger, more durable product with a substantial shelf life.

“The product has been retailed between $3 and $6 a gallon, and can potentially be marketed as high as $10 per gallon as exposure heightens,” said Joe Spadafore, Extreme Biodiesel’s corporate secretary. “The revenue potential is vast in light of the fact that there is little to no competition in the industry that meets current industry standards. Annually, [the U.S.] tears up approximately 73 million tons of asphalt nationwide, and then reprocesses it in the form of new roads. With new government restrictions on the older petroleum-based products, it becomes a very advantageous market.”
