New Haven, Connecticut-based biodiesel producer American GreenFuels LLC, part of Kolmar Americas Inc., has recently launched a new campaign to educate consumers about the branded biodiesel-blended heating oil known as Bioheat. The campaign is named “You Are What You Heat.”

“I am very excited about this campaign,” said Raf Aviner, president of American GreenFuels and Bridgeport, Connecticut-based Kolmar Americas. “We have worked hard to quadruple our capacity, which now makes us the largest biodiesel manufacturer in the Northeast. This provides a good opportunity to reach out to Connecticut consumers to let them know we are right here in Connecticut working to provide a cleaner environment. We are very proud to employ more than 40 people directly and countless others indirectly in Connecticut to make biodiesel that is blended into heating oil. Certified biodiesel from American GreenFuels meets specific standards and offers environmental benefits to consumers in Connecticut. We hope consumers ask their home heating dealers to make sure they blend American GreenFuels biodiesel into their heating oil.”

American GreenFuels is a BQ-9000-accredited producer. The BQ-9000 program is considered the gold standard in biodiesel quality. According to American GreenFuels, its New Haven plant now has the capacity to produce 40 MMgy of biodiesel.

Paul F. Teta, vice president and general counsel for American GreenFuels and Kolmar Americas, said, “This is a very exciting campaign for American GreenFuels. Connecticut residents can now know that they can make a difference to our environment because certified biodiesel from American GreenFuels, when sold within Connecticut, provides greenhouse gas emission savings of 78 to 93 percent as compared with the ultra-low sulfur heating oil made from traditional fossil fuels. Our biodiesel plant has only been in operation since 2013 and during that time has made great progress in expanding its capacity and quality standards. Now with the help of Connecticut consumers, we can all work towards improving our environment.”
