BioSafety Workshop to discuss biodiesel

A team of international experts is presenting the findings of its research on the effects of using specified risk materials (SRMs) to produce biodiesel. Advanced Technologies & Fuels Canada Inc. and the expert panel is holding "SRMs to Biodiesel: a BioSafety Workshop" on June 21 at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa. Animal tallow tainted with transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE) is considered to be a SRM. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency will also host a separate workshop on environmental decontamination and the disposal of TSE-tainted materials on June 22.
