Diesel vehicle and equipment owners take note: you may not know everything there is to know about using biodiesel. Now you have a chance to become informed by an industry expert, Bob King of Pacific Biodiesel, on the multitude of uses for this cleaner-burning, healthier, renewable alternative fuel currently produced in Hawaii from recycled waste vegetable oil.
Pacific Biodiesel Technologies is partnering with the Sustainable Living Institute of Maui at UH Maui College to present a two-hour class on multi-industry use of biodiesel. “The Truth About Using Biodiesel” will include information on how to switch various diesel-powered equipment to biodiesel or biodiesel blends, advancements in fuel quality, why warranty issues are no different from current petroleum-based concerns, and the benefits of biodiesel.
Biodiesel has been registered with the U.S. EPA as a fuel and a fuel additive and is safe for all diesel engines. It can be used pure or blended at any percentage with petroleum diesel. Even in a 20 percent blend, as used by many large fleets in Hawaii, there are significant emission reductions.
“The Truth About Using Biodiesel” will take place Nov. 19, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on the UH Maui College campus, Laulima Building, room 225. This event will be free and open to the general public. Questions and issues may be submitted in advance to Beth Mathias. For more information, contact Melanie at 984-3502 or mvstephe@hawaii.edu.
