Bringing Advanced Biofuels to Omaha

September 25, 2015

BY Anna Simet

A month from today, most of our staff will have arrived in Omaha to make last-minute preparations for the National Advanced Biofuel Conference & Expo, an event that I always look forward to.

We begin Mon., Oct. 26, with our famous industry tours. I’m not shy to toot our own horns here and flat-out say that when it comes to tours, we’re the gold standard. You won’t be disappointed. We will begin at ICM Inc.’s state-of-the-art 35,000 square foot pilot plant facility, in St. Joseph, Missouri, an approximate two-hour bus ride that will be in good company and worth the journey. There, we’ll get to see a fully-integrated performance demonstration of ICM’s patent-pending Gen 1.5 Grain Fiber to Cellulosic Ethanol Technology process.

We’ll then circle back to Omaha to Intersystems’ 235,000 square foot manufacturing facility. At Intersystems, which has manufactured conveying and weighing systems for over 50 ethanol plants and is also working actively in the wood pellet space, tour goers will gain an understanding of the role material handling systems play, and get a first-hand look at what goes into manufacturing them.

We’ll be back in plenty of time for the grand opening of the expo hall and reception, and the conference content begins the follow morning. You won’t want to miss what we’ve got planned. The kind of year the advanced biofuels industry has had is obvious—it’s been rough, to say the least—but forge ahead we must. You might be wondering what the impacts are looking like, what the road ahead has in store. How are things looking policywise, investmentwise, fundingwise? Where do we go from here?

We’ll have people on stage with answers for you, so I hope you are working on your questions. Write them down now.

The following day, we’ll transition to our breakout session format, where you’ll be able to choose topics specific to your interests.
