Bunge enters JV to build biodiesel plants in Spain
December 15, 2006
In October, Bunge Iberica, the Spanish arm of Bunge Limited, announced a joint venture with Acciona, a renewable energy company, to build two biodiesel plants in Spain. The proposed plants, one with a 60 MMgy capacity and the other undeclared, will be located adjacent to Bunge's newly constructed oilseed processing plants and vegetable oil refineries in Bilbao and Cartagena, Spain. This venture follows a March agreement between Acciona and Repsol YPF, Spain's largest petroleum refiner, to develop biodiesel plants near Repsol's crude oil facilities.
