D1 Oils, Keygene collaborate on jatropha project

November 20, 2007

U.K.-based D1 Oils plc and Netherlands-based Keygene NV are collaborating on molecular genetics research of Jatropha curcas. Keygene's genetic fingerprinting technology is highly suitable for undertaking molecular work on a new crop because no prior genetic sequence information is required, said Henk Joos, D1 Oils plant science and agronomy director. D1 Oils has developed a modular 3 MMgy biodiesel processing unit and has 500,000 acres of jatropha planted in India, Southeast Asia and Africa.
