JOHNSTON, IOWA – Farmers Cooperative Co., in conjunction with the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, announced a grand opening event will be held for a newly operational fueling station, located at 403 East South St. in Mount Ayr, Iowa.  The new fueling station will offer a wide range of ethanol blends, including E15 as a registered fuel, E30 and E85, as well as biodiesel blends B5, B11, B20, B30 and B99.

“Thanks to Farmers Cooperative Company and Governor Branstad’s ‘Fueling Our Future’ program, Mount Ayr-area motorists will now have a wide range of cleaner-burning fuel choices when it comes to ethanol and biodiesel blends,” said IRFA Managing Director Lucy Norton.  “Not only will nearby motorists benefit from E15, the lowest-cost fuel for the vast majority of vehicles on the road, diesel customers will be able to take advantage of increased fuel lubricity from more environmentally-friendly biodiesel blends, like B20.”

To celebrate its Grand Opening, Farmers Cooperative Company in Mount Ayr will offer E15 for $1.15 per gallon and E85 for 85 cents per gallon from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., along with a free lunch with any fill-up of an ethanol or biodiesel blend on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The event is cosponsored by IRFA and the ICPB.

E15 is a blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline that is now available at a significant discount to regular, unleaded gasoline at 37 locations in Iowa. E15 is approved by the U.S. EPA for use in all 2001 and newer passenger vehicles, as well as flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs). Those vehicles account for 85 percent of fuel use in the United States. In order to offer E15 to non-FFVs, a retailer must register with the EPA.  IRFA works with retailers to ensure they comply with all federal and state E15 regulations.
