Flint Hills closes on 110 MMgy ethanol plant in Arthur, Iowa

Flint Hills Resources LLC has finalized the acquisition of the 110 MMgy ethanol plant in Arthur, Iowa, from Platinum Ethanol.
The purchase brings the total capacity for Flint Hills Resources to 660 MMgy. The Arthur facility joins four other Iowa plants in the Flint Hill group located in Fairbank, Iowa Falls, Menlo and Shell Rock. The company also owns one plant in Nebraska at Fairmont.

The Arthur facility opened in 2008. In addition to producing 110 MMgy of ethanol, it also produces 300,000 pounds of distillers grains and approximately 23 million pounds of nonfood grade corn oil each year.
In announcing the pending sale in July principal shareholder Ron Fagen thanked General Manager Nick Bowdish and Plant Manager Mike Messing along with the 50-some employees for their work.
Flint Hills Resources is a refining, chemicals and biofuels company with operations primarily in the Midwest, Texas and Alaska. Flint Hills Resources' biofuels business includes a biodiesel plant in Texas along with its ethanol plants in Iowa and Nebraska, and investments in biofuels technology and feedstock development.
