Fox River Valley Ethanol plant restarts production

The Oshkosh, Wis.-based Fox River Valley Ethanol plant has resumed operations. Ace Ethanol LLC purchased the 52 MMgy plant from Utica Energy LLC in August. The facility had been idle since September 2012.
According to Robert Sather, public affairs director for Ace Ethanol, several improvements and upgrades have been made to the plant to increase energy efficiency and improve profitability. The facility now features corn oil extraction capabilities. In addition, Sather said improvements have been made to the dryer and boiler to increase efficiency. “When we looked at the plant, we knew it was in really good shape, fundamentally, but needed a number of upgrades to make it efficient and profitable,” he said.

The company has re-employed several of the plant’s previous employees. “Over half of the people that were working [at Utica Energy] were re-employed,” Sather said.
Sather attributes the success of the improvements and start-up to the positive collaborative effort between the Ace Ethanol team and the Fox River Valley team, and credits Ace Ethanol President and General Manager Neal Kemmet for his leadership.
