FutureFuel Corp. on March 26 announced the restart of its 59 MMgy biodiesel plant in Batesville, Arkansas. The company’s annual report, released April 4, indicates biodiesel production was down 24% last year when compared to 2023.
FutureFuel initiated scheduled annual maintenance and turnaround at the biodiesel plant in December 2024. That work was initially planned to be complete in February. The company on Jan. 28, however, announced work had been delayed by severe inclement weather. As a result, biodiesel production was not expected to resume until at least late March. Other processes at the facility were expected to ramp up in early March.
The company on March 26 confirmed that it has initiated restart of the biodiesel plant, noting that other processes at the facility ramped up earlier in the month. In a fourth quarter earnings release issued March 28, FutureFuel said the completed turnaround work is expected to help circumvent planned turnarounds normally scheduled late in the year for its biodiesel segment.
An annual report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on April 4 indicates FutureFuel produced 45 million gallons of biodiesel in 2024, down from 59 million gallons in 2023.

FutureFuel reported consolidated sales revenues of $61,509 for the fourth quarter of last year, down 33% when compared to the same period of 2023. The company primarily attributed the decline to power prices and lower sales volumes in the biofuel segment.
For the full year 2024, revenue was $243,339, down 34%. FutureFuel attributed to the decline to lower sales volumes and prices in its biofuel segment. The company reported approximately 67% of its revenue during the year was generated by its biofuel operations.

The U.S. EIA on April 15 released its Annual Energy Outlook 2025, which includes energy trend projections through 2050. The U.S. DOE, however, is cautioning that the forecasts do not reflect the Trump administration’s energy policy changes.
