On Dec. 9, three members of the Governor’s Biofuel Coalition sent a letter to President-elect Donald Trump thanking him for his repeated statements of support for biofuels and the renewable fuels standard (RFS) during the campaign.

“We are very encouraged that your administration will prioritize economic growth in rural America,” said the governors in the letter.

“The nation’s biofuels industry has generated thousands of jobs throughout the nation, and biofuels will continue to grow our state’s economies with your help,” they continued.

Within the letter, the governors also indicate that they look forward to working with the Trump administration to advance policies that will add value to the agricultural community.

“We look forward to a robust and healthy relationship between your administration, America’s farm families and our nation’s renewable fuels industry,” concluded the letter. “Together with you and Vice President-elect Pence, we can help rural America prosper.”

The letter signed by Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard.

The Renewable Fuels Association has spoken out to thank the governors for reaching out to Trump and thanking him for his support of biofuels and the RFS, and for highlighting the economic impact of the biofuels industry. “The president-elect understands the importance of clean, domestic energy resources and the economic power of value-added agriculture,” said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the RFA. “We are confident he will continue to support the RFS and expanded production and use of fuel ethanol during his administration.”
