Renewable diesel producer Neste announced an expanded partnership with the city of Oakland, California, in which waste oil from the city is being collected and shipped overseas to Singapore for processing into renewable diesel, after which the company will ship the biofuel back to Oakland for use in city fleet vehicles.

The company says it has joined forces with fuel distributor Western States Oil and local grease collectors to make this happen.

Oakland first started using Neste renewable diesel in city fleet vehicles in October 2015.
