PetroSun plans algae-to-biodiesel plant

PetroSun BioFuels is planning a 20 MMgy biodiesel production plant in Australia that should be on line by late 2007 and use algae as a feedstock, according to company CEO Gordon LeBlanc. While the algae cultivation process isn't unique, he said the Algae BioFuels Inc. extraction process that would be incorporated is. In addition to biodiesel, the process produces high-protein animal feed, ethanol and excess electricity. PetroSun Drilling Inc. is an Arizona company with wholly owned subsidiaries Algae BioFuels Inc. in the United States and PetroSun BioFuels in Australia.
