Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee meeting scheduled

The Surface Transportation Board has announced the Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee will hold a meeting March 5 in Washington, D.C.

The committee provides advice and guidance to the STB and serves as a forum for discussing emerging issues related to the transportation of energy by rail, including ethanol and other biofuels. According to the STB, the purpose of the meeting is to continue discussions regarding issues such as rail performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure planning and development, and effective coordination among suppliers, carriers, and users of energy resources.

A notice posted in the Federal Register indicates potential agenda items include the introduction of new members, a performance measures review, industry segment update by committee members, a presentation on the outlook for U.S. petroleum production and a roundtable discussion.

The meeting is open to the public. In addition, members of the public can submit written comments at any time. A list of current committee members is available on the STB website. Addition information on the meeting and how to submit written comments is available on the Federal Register website.
