Registration is open until Oct. 11 for biodiesel antioxidant no-harm testing through Germany’s Biodiesel Quality Management Association (AGQM).
Antioxidants are often added to biodiesel in order to achieve an oxidation stability of eight hours as required in the EN 14214 standard. To avoid negative interactions between the additives and fuels, AGQM has developed two demanding test procedures in cooperation with the petroleum industry.
The test procedure of antioxidants for biodiesel as a component in diesel fuel provides for the verification of minimum requirements, an interaction test and the determination of the relative efficiency of the antioxidant compared to butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) in B100. In addition, the engine oil compatibility (DGMK 531-1), the filtration properties (DGMK 663) and a nozzle fouling engine test (XUD9, CEC F-23-1-01) in B10 fuel are examined.

The antioxidants for biodiesel as a blend component to heating oil are investigated in the second test procedure in B20. The minimum requirements are extended, and the interaction test is tightened, while eliminating the test for engine oil compatibility and the engine test in the heating oil sector.
Companies can register to test their antioxidants under info@agqm‑biodiesel.de until Oct. 11.
